5 Tips for Summer Photography

5 Tips for Summer Photography:

18

1. Bug Spray – bug spray goes a long way, prepping yourself and your family against those pesky critters will keep your focus on each other and not those buggers!
2. Clothing – normally neutral clothing is great for family portraits, but in the summer it’s fun to wear those bursts of colour to brighten up the photographs. I recommend picking a colour and staying in that range, and complimenting those colours with neutrals. eg, green and gray, or corals and blue.
3. Timing – the time of day can reflect on the types of photographs you can expect to receive. If you go during “golden hour” (just before sunset) you can get those golden back-lit photos.
4. Weather – while the weather is usually sunny in the summer, it’s still great to go on overcast days; there are more options available for locations. It’s also a good idea to plan ahead and pick a secondary rain date.
5. Have Fun – that’s what summer is all about after all right? Let loose, relax, and have some fun. Let kids be kids, let siblings interact with each other. Those candid moments, laughter, and smiles can be the unexpected photos you will cherish.

Fall Portraits 2013

Wow what an amasing fall portrait season! It was such a pleasure meeting, & working with so many people. I didn’t see a lot of the expected orange & red fall colours this year, but on the plus side this fall was the warmest fall I can remember having 🙂 .

Lots of smiles, cuddles, kisses, and soaring kiddos this season. I am very happy with how all these sessions turned out. 🙂

Samantha & Scott are Expecting!

Just a couple weeks ago I reconnected with some childhood classmates for this shoot. I was honoured that they choose me to capture this special moment in their life as they are expecting their first baby, and it’s a GIRL! It was a lot of fun trying new ideas with baby shoes, and pink balloons. I LOVE how their session turned out, the light was beautiful that evening!

I am so excited for you two, as you take this journey into parenthood. This little girl will be blessed to have such loving parents. I wish you all the best with your new little bundle of joy!

{Amanda, Ella, & Lily}

Meet Amanda, Ella, and Lily. I enjoyed meeting and photographing these three bundles of energy. We were all lucky to have our shoot on a gorgeous Summer evening with a beautiful sunset.

These girls were so playful and energetic. It was nice to see that they were having fun playing around with each other. It certainly didn’t feel like I was working as I snapped away. They are all so gorgeous! Don’t they all have such beautiful smiles?

I love my job!

{Andrea and Tim Say Yes}

8

I had the pleasure of shooting Andrea & Tim’s engagement session for a casting call I had this spring. I felt like I could relate to their love story, since I too meet my husband on Plenty of Fish {P.O.F}. The dating world as we know it is changing forever. Many couples are now meeting online through dating sites. While some might be weary of the idea, this offers a easy place to meet lots of people, and get to know others before getting emotionally attached, and meeting face to face.

For this couple the first time they met was at the Stampede Corral in Kitchener. Tim saw Andrea and said to his buddies that she was the prettiest woman he has ever seen. Time passed by and they both set up profiles on P.O.F, in hopes of finding their fish in the sea. Andrea wasn’t having much luck on P.O.F and was about to close her account, when she came across Tim’s profile, and something inside her told her to message him; a decision she will forever be grateful for.

They chatted, and got to know each other and had their first formal date at Ennio’s. Andrea & Tim both were in very similar situations and agreed to take things very slow, and just start off as friends. It didn’t take long to discover that they were texting & emailing each other every day and ultimately ended up falling in love with each other. They have been together almost 4 years now and have been through so much together, some very happy times and some very tough times, but they have been there for each other through it all!

Tim is from P.E.I and when they went to visit his family last summer, he took Andrea to her favorite beach and asked her to marry him… she said YES! Now they are less then one month away from their wedding in P.E.I! They will be joined with their closest friends and family to celebrate their marriage in one of their most favorite places!

Since they got engaged out there and also booked our wedding out there, they did not get the opportunity to have any engagement photos. I wanted to give them this chance, as everyone deserves to get the whole package. 🙂

{Melissa}

Meet Melissa, this gorgeous lady was the last mother I worked with in a photography workshop earlier this year. I’m so happy that she had a chance to come get pampered and treated with a photo shoot. It was a long day but she still was wonderful to work with, and her smile is so beautiful!

{Fithria}

Meet Fithria, this beautiful lady is a loving mother, and photographer.

Mom’s do so much for their families, that they often make sacrifices and neglect to do special things for themselves. Here is a great way to treat yourself. Spend the day getting pampered by having your hair & make up done, getting a beautiful photoshoot, and then afterwards go out for a dinner date, or some drinks with some friends. You will not only have a blast for the whole day, but you can save those photos for your kids, your partner, and even yourself. We are all beautiful and deserve to have a special day like this.
